1. Information we collect

Account and profile information

When you create or use an account, we may collect information such as your email address, account identifier, authentication details supplied by your sign-in method, profile information, and preferences.

Recipe and content information

We collect the recipes, recipe edits, favorites, saved community recipes, notes, images, and other content you choose to create, upload, save, or publish through the Service.

When you submit a recipe, social-media, or video link for extraction, we process the URL and information that is publicly available from that source as needed to create a recipe. Submitted links may contain information such as the source platform, video or post identifier, title, thumbnail, caption, and other publicly available recipe-related material.

Community content

If you choose to publish a recipe to the Reel2Meal Community, that recipe and the information you choose to make public may be visible to other users and visitors. Do not publish information you do not want others to see.

Feedback and communications

If you send feedback, report a recipe, contact us, or request account deletion, we collect the information you provide, such as your message and, where provided or needed, your email address.

Usage, device, and diagnostic information

We collect information about how the Service is used, including pages or features used, product actions, device and browser information, app version, operating system, IP-derived or general location information where provided by our service providers, referral information, UTM parameters, error information, and performance or diagnostic data.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to support authentication, remember preferences, preserve certain in-progress actions, protect the Service, and understand product usage.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

• provide, operate, maintain, and improve Reel2Meal;
• create and manage accounts;
• extract, organize, translate, generate, and display recipe content;
• save recipes, favorites, settings, and other user-requested content;
• make Community recipes available when a user chooses to publish them;
• respond to feedback, support requests, and account-deletion requests;
• send essential operational messages, including account-deletion confirmation codes;
• detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security issues, and technical failures;
• understand feature usage and improve reliability, usability, and product quality; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. How information is shared

We do not sell personal data.

We share information only as needed to operate the Service, including with service providers that help us provide hosting, authentication, database storage, analytics, email delivery, recipe extraction, media processing, AI-assisted processing, and background-job processing.

Depending on the feature you use, these providers may include:

• Supabase for authentication, database, storage, and backend services;
• PostHog for product analytics and diagnostics;
• third-party extraction and media-processing providers, including Apify where applicable;
• AI service providers used to process recipe-related content, including OpenAI and Google/Gemini-related services where applicable;
• Resend for operational email delivery where applicable; and
• infrastructure providers supporting secure delivery and background processing.

These providers may process information on our behalf under their own terms, privacy commitments, and applicable data-processing arrangements.

We may also disclose information if required to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect the safety and security of Reel2Meal or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of our business.

4. Public and shared content

Your private recipe library is not public by default.

If you choose to publish a recipe to the Community, the published recipe may be visible to other users and visitors. You can remove public recipes by changing their visibility where that option is available, or by deleting your account. Please remember that people who have already viewed or copied public information may retain it.

5. Analytics

We use PostHog to understand how people use Reel2Meal and to improve the Service. Analytics may include product events, pages visited, feature interactions, device/app context, referrer or campaign information, and technical diagnostics.

We use this information to improve product quality, understand which features are useful, diagnose failures, and measure whether important flows such as account creation and recipe extraction work reliably.

We do not use personal data for third-party targeted advertising.

6. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, meet the purposes described in this Policy, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with legal obligations, and maintain security.

If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize associated information as described in the account-deletion flow, subject to information we must retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or operational reasons.

7. Account deletion and your choices

You can request permanent account deletion in Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account.

To protect your account, Reel2Meal requires confirmation with a code sent to your account email before deletion is completed. When deletion is completed, we remove your account and associated private content as described in the deletion flow. Public recipes you own are removed, and feedback you have submitted is anonymized in our systems. Please note that feedback is also delivered to us by email, and those email copies may still contain your name or email address; we retain them only as long as needed to handle the feedback and for our legitimate record-keeping, security, and legal purposes, after which they are deleted.

You may also have rights under applicable privacy law to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or portability of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the contact details below.

8. International data transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. When information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to use appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no internet transmission, storage system, or security measure is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

Reel2Meal is not directed to children where parental consent would be required under applicable law. Do not use the Service if you are not legally permitted to do so in your location.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice where required by law.
